PREFACE This is a book that almost didn’t happen. Actually, it is a book that wasn’t planned. As Greek Apocryphal Gospels, Fragments and Agrapha: Texts and Transcriptions was being worked on, I had no plans to translate the material, only to write introductions. But in the process of writing the introductions to the agrapha and fragments, I ended up translating the material anyway. So I decided to finish what I’d started and translate the rest. For the longer material, it made sense to begin with
